Abby Bongaarts received the German equivalent of the Fulbright Program in America.

A St. Louis Park native has received a prestigious scholarship to study in Germany, according to a Thursday news release.
Abby Bongaarts, a rising junior at Stonehill College in Massachusetts, was awarded the “Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst”—or “German Academic Exchange Service”—scholarship. The scholarship is the German equivalent of the Fulbright Program in America.
Bongaarts will study at the University of Munich through the Wayne State Junior Year in Munich study abroad program. She’ll take history, literature and culture classes in German. She also plans to use the archives in the area to further her senior thesis research on environmental policy during the Nazi regime.

"I am looking forward to improving my German and exploring the rest of Germany and Europe as well," the release quoted Bongaarts. "Since I will be there for a full year, I will be able to really immerse myself in German culture while still having time to visit other places."
