Nicolette Larson had a hit song called Lotta Love with some wonderful lyrics back in the 70's..
"It's gonna take a lotta love
To change the way things are.
It's gonna take a lotta love
Or we won't get too far."
It always seems to come down to love in nearly every situation in life doesn't it? When we love someone else more than ourselves is when good things really start to happen. When you forgave someone and it was really hard to do, that was lotta love. When you give up something, a sacrafice so that another can benefit or be blessed, that's lotta love, and it's not always easy.
In case you haven't noticed the world is a mess. In fact the sadness and destruction on your planet earth has happened so quickly we hardly notice anymore.
St. Louis Park is a diverse city politically, socially, demographically, religiously, yet we all have one thing in common...we're all born with the ability to love each other, even more than ourselves.
A number of people will soon launch a new church in St. Louis Park, The Expedition Church. Expedition will be a non-denominational church with one community goal, to spread the love. Whether Christian, Jewish, un-churched, agnostic, or searching for life's answers (and we never get tired of that) we all can love each other more.
Our city has dozens of wonderful churches, and all of them keep their doors unlocked for you to walk through when you need some love.
But that's too easy. What else would you get from a church if not love? It's at the store, on the road, at school, waiting at a bus stop, that's where we could be loved and love others a lot more.
Why can't St. Louis Park create change through a gift we're all given at birth, the ability to love and be loved.
How could we be a light?
How could each of us make SLP a place where you not only feel loved, you can't wait to dish a little out?
And if we never quite accomplish setting an example for the world...we can for ourselves, for our wives and husbands, our children, and our friends, neighbors and especially strangers.
All it will take is a whole Lotta Love and your willingness to spread a little.
