St. Louis Park Man Pleads Guilty To Impersonating FBI Officer
Aron Avram Shamilov gave an apartment leasing office a fake letter explaining his bad credit, authorities said.

ST. LOUIS PARK, MN — Acting United States Attorney Gregory Brooker Thursday announced the guilty plea of Aron Avram Shamilov, 24, for impersonating a federal officer. Shamilov pleaded guilty on Nov. 13.
According to his guilty plea and documents filed in court, on March 29, Shamilov submitted to an apartment leasing office a letter purportedly authored by a FBI special agent in support of the his attempt to lease an apartment.
The letter, which was intended to explain Shamilov’s low credit score, falsely stated that Shamilov was the victim of identity theft, according to authorities. The fabricated letter included the FBI seal and was purportedly authored by an agent from the Minneapolis division of the FBI, and falsely stated that the agent had been assigned to investigate Shamilov’s identity theft case.

On May 2, 2017, the property manager of the apartment complex contacted the FBI to verify the validity of the letter. After reviewing the letter, the FBI told property manager that the letter was a fake, according to authorities.
