Suspected Drunk Driver Flips Car Into St. Louis Park Garage: Cops

A police chase that began early Friday morning ended with a dramatic crash in a residential neighborhood.

ST. LOUIS PARK, MN — Authorities say a man suspected of drunk driving led police on a chase early Friday morning that ended with his vehicle flipping and crashing into a garage in St. Louis Park.

At about 12:30 a.m. an officer watched a silver Subaru Forrester swerving and driving onto the curb near Interstate 394 and Hopkins Crossroad (County Road 73).

After officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, according to police.

The pursuit continued for about five miles to the 8900 block of West 28th Street in St. Louis Park. At a dead end, the vehicle struck some large boulders, flipped and crashed into a garage.

The driver, a 23-year-old man from St. Paul, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, fleeing an officer, driving a stolen vehicle and several outstanding warrants.

The driver was not seriously injured, but was transported to Methodist Hospital for evaluation and a toxicology screening. Charges are pending, according to a news release.
