Two St. Louis Park Teachers Receive $2,500 Grants

Two St. Louis Park teachers have been awarded $2,500 grants from Farmers Insurance as part of the Thank America's Teachers Program.

Jennifer Puzzo, a language teacher at St. Louis Park Middle School, and Ashley Hall, a second grade teacher at Peter Hobart Elementary, have been awarded $2,500 grants from Farmers Insurance as part of the company’s Thank America’s Teachers Program. Farmers Insurance invited teachers to submit grant proposals for educational programs that would better prepare students for the future. Puzzo and Hall are two of 180 teachers across the nation that were awarded $2,500 grants after an online public vote.

Puzzo plans to use the grant to increase the technology available to her students by purchasing iPads, Ozobots and online resources to improve listening skills, according to a news release.

“I am thankful to Farmers Insurance and those who supported me, as I would not have been able to make this happen without them,” Puzzo said in a statement. “I appreciate the support for our students, especially the support of those in the St. Louis Park community to continue to put Children First. I am excited to see how this grant will inspire my students, as it certainly inspired me.”

Hall plans to use the grant to purchase new flexible seating for her classroom and will use any funds left over to complete the class library.

“I would like to thank Farmers Insurance and everyone who voted for my class,” Hall said. “It warms my heart to know I had so many voters – some who I personally do not know. The power of community is truly amazing! Thank you!”
