Wayzata Officer Bill Mathews: Memorial Fund, Funeral Announced

The funeral and memorial fund have been announced for officer William Mathews, a 9 year veteran of the Wayzata Police Department who was killed on Highway 12 while removing road debris last week. Mathews was outside his fully marked Wayzata squad car when he was fatally struck by another vehicle. Mathews leaves behind a wife and a seven-year-old son.

A visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Wayzata Free Church (705 County Road 101, Plymouth). The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the same church. The burial will take place following the funeral service at Summit Park Cemetery in Wayzata. The public is welcome to attend.
