Woman Trying To Grab Phone Crashes Into Edina Cop Car: Police

"Your phone is not this important," police said after the highway collision.

A woman crashed into an Edina squad while she was trying to grab her phone that had dropped on the floor of her car, according to authorities.

She was north on Highway 169 near Bren Road driving a 2017 Dodge Journey when she struck the squad just before 3 a.m.

Officer Nicholas Pedersen, who was stopped on the shoulder at the time of the crash, and the 38-year-old driver suffered non-serious injuries and were taken to Fairview Southdale Hospital.

The woman was cited for careless driving, according to the Star Tribune.

"This is distracted driving," Edina police wrote on Twitter. "Your phone is not this important. Fortunately only minor injuries THIS time."
