Worker Dies On Highway 169 Construction Site

​A worker at the Highway 169 ​construction​ site has died after a large metal pipe came off a trailer and landed on him.

A worker at the Highway 169 construction site died Monday after a large metal pipe came off a trailer and landed on him.

The fatal accident occurred just after 2:30 p.m. on the ramp of south Highway 169 to Londonderry Drive in Minnetonka.

David Earl Hyde, 38, of Fulton, Missouri, was in the process of assisting in the unloading of large metal pipes from a trailer when a pipe came off the trailer and hit him.

Hyde died at the scene, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Ames Construction told KMSP that the pipe weighed between 2,500 to 2,600 pounds.
