6th Grade Girls Basketball Wins STMA Tournament

Β

Heart. Determination. Teamwork. These are just a few words to describe the STMA 6thΒ Grade Blue girls traveling basketball team. These attributes are some of the key reasons why the girls are having such a fun and successful season. On January 15th, they took home the championship title, in their division, at our own STMA Great Northern Shootout Basketball Tournament. This tournament win was on the heels of 3 prior championship wins at Rogers,Β Andover, andΒ Spring LakeΒ Park.

Another key ingredient to their fun and success this season is great leadership from their coaches (just ask head coach Don Hansen-who let the girls shave his head after winning the STMA tournament), and a strong support system from their families and friends. The bond that has been forged between the players, their coaches, and families is undeniable.

The true reasons for the fun the girls are having this season are not the wins, although they are a great accomplishment because they all β€˜play to win’, but rather it is the friendships they have built.Β It is the things they are learning from their coaches; not just about fundamental basketball, but about teamwork and sportsmanship, along with the participation of family and friends in the stands at every game.

We can’t wait to see what’s next for the girls this season. One thing is for certain … it will definitely be fun to watch.
