Crazy schedules or planned sanity?

What's your fall schedule looking like? Got time for God?

Scheduling your fall or planning your way out of craziness…

The other day my neighbor commented on what a crazy fall
it’s going to be with school events, sporting activities, hunting, and projects
around the house- just as a short list.

What are your family schedules looking like for the fall?  At our house we have a large calendar on one of our walls.  Every event, commitment, etc, goes on this calendar. If something doesn’t get put on chances are that it will not happen or be attended.

Personally and professionally, I find that I need to enter everything into my google calendar. If an event or commitment gets entered it has my attention and will get my response.

If I can challenge you in your setting up your family or individual schedules for the fall I would ask you to get your worship times on the schedule. Make weekly worship at your church a top priority and build your schedule around this commitment.

Now, I can hear you saying, “Well, you’re a pastor, you are supposed to say
this!”   Yes, this is what I teach, preach, and pray about.  Why?  Because our Lord calls us to honor the Sabbath, that is, to set aside time for worship. Worship is that time of week to gather with other believers to give thank and praise to our Lord for all that he has done for us.

So, go ahead and enter your worship time on your calendar as
a “repeat” event.  Chances are that all your other events and commitments will be all the more fulfilling and meaningful once you kept your focus on Christ and your worship life.

Excuse me now, but I need to double check my calendar and see what’s next!

Joy in the Journey,

Pastor Durk K. Peterson, Alleluia! Lutheran Church,
St. Michael
