Do your homework!
You know what it is. There is something waiting for you somewhere on your mental desk, not going anywhere, but waiting for you to dedicate time and effort to it. And it talks to you. It tells you “Hey, I’m still there! I won’t stop bugging you until you took care of me!” If you are a little like me then you just don’t feel right until you addressed it. And what breakthrough can come when you did what you knew needed to be done- no more excuses!
Let me give you an example of a “do” and a “don’t” homework: I had this book (waiting for me at Amazon) that I was supposed to read and when I finally ordered and started reading it, I found answers and new thoughts that I just needed at that time to get me out of feeling stuck where I was. That felt great and my life is changed ever since!

A “don’t” example would be to not answer my father-in-law with “Peanuts” when he asks what he should bring home from Menards. Man, those big bulk bags of salted shell peanuts have gotten the best of me way too many times now and all I need is not remind anyone that we are out. That is harder said than done though, so I understand why you might have procrastinated UNTIL NOW!
If you wouldn’t tell your kids to do their homework they might just not do it. Do you need accountability? Then let me ask you: Got homework? Well then, off you go! Shut off all the distractions and get to it.

What is it that you know you should be doing, but you don’t? Since my column is about health and fitness, let me ask you: Is it to quit drinking soda or smoking cigarettes? Is it to join a gym? Is it to actually utilize your gym membership? Start watching your portion sizes? Take a walk with your spouse? Give your spouse and kids and pets a daily bear hug? Sounds like homework can be fun!
Remember, you are the steward of your life; no one is going to do your homework for you. You want to see all you can be, well start with what you know to do and be surprised what new worlds open up for you!
