Freedom!

How Free Are You?

With school out children and youth in our community experience summer freedom.  A change of pace and activities for the summer months after the school year.  What are your children doing for the summer?  And, how happy are they to
experience summer freedom?

July 4^th brings to mind the many freedoms we enjoy in our country. The freedom of religion, speech, and the press, to name a few.  Freedom is that precious liberty we enjoy as citizens in our country.

As a follower of Jesus we experience freedom- freedom that comes in the form of forgiveness and the promise of eternal life.  This freedom in Christ enables us to serve others in love.

While we enjoy our freedom in Christ, there are those things in life that can hold us back- things that can imprison our soul and life. It could be an addiction, unhealthy relationship, traumatic experience, or just plain old selfishness at work in our life.

I encourage you this week to consider how you might use your freedom for the sake of others. How can you help a friend or neighbor? What can you do to serve someone in need.  One idea I would throw out is for you to do a service project as a family this summer.

Thank God for freedom- the freedom we celebrate in Christ that can help us to improve the lives of others by sharing the good news of Jesus.
