So You Want to Start Your Own Brewery? Ten Key Legal Steps You Need to Take to Start Your Own Brewery
Thinking of starting your own brewery? Find out what's on tap when it comes to legal issues.

One of the fun aspects of my business law practice is my work with several local craft breweries. Not only are they fun clients because at the end of the day you can have “client meetings” around a pint or two at the brewery, but the launch of a brewery involves navigating a distinct set of legal issues, everything from business formation and intellectual property protections to financing (be it debt and/or equity) and federal, state and local government licensing approvals.
Recently, my colleague, Greg Perleberg, and I were asked to write down our thoughts as to these various issues. The end result is “So You Want to Start Your Own Brewery” and it was published online by The Growler earlier this week and you can read it by clicking here.
