Spring Cleaning for Your Body

A detoxification/cleansing program is a great way to get your body ready for summer.

Spring is a great time for all.  The birds are returning, the sun is shining…FINALLY and neighborhoods are busy with families enjoying the outdoors.  For many, spring is a time to commit to getting back into their bathing suit body and to feeling their best.  It is this time of year that many people elect to do a cleansing/detoxification program to recharge the internal batteries.

Detoxification is a process in which the body removes stored toxins and excretes them through normal waste.  There are many ways that you can support the body with its detoxification processes, but most commonly people will perform specific diet protocols, use herbs and supplements or utilize massage therapy techniques.

Detoxification is useful for those of us who are exposed to low-level toxins for extended periods of time.  Low-level toxins can most easily be described as limited exposure to things like; lead, mercury, pesticides and other industrial compounds.   Over time, these chemicals build up in various areas of the body, most commonly in the liver or fats cells.  Common signs and symptoms of environmental toxicity include acne, rashes, headaches, aches and pains, frequent fatigue, muscle weakness, memory loss and chronic immune system depression.

As with any commitment to your health, it is recommended that you consult with a physician before performing a detoxification program.
