STMA Girls Lacrosse sweep St. Cloud Tech
Game highlights from the STMA Girls Varsity Lacrosse win over St. Cloud Tech.
On Tuesday, the STMA girls lacrosse teams traveled to SCSU to play against St. Cloud Tech. The Knights played their season opener against St. Cloud on the 26th of April with JV winning and varsity losing a tough one by 1 goal. Coach Anderson thought they played as well as they could've given the circumstances of the season thus far and the limited space for practices. She was confident in the varsity teams abilities to go to SCSU and play a much more competitive game. And they did.
JV won their game 8-6, with scoring spread out among 7 different individuals. Varsity won their game with a final score of 17-9. At the half, the Knights led 10-8, and Coach Anderson told the girls that they needed to work on running the offense they learned on Monday. Trying new offensive plays isn't easy, but you need to be willing to run it in order to find out what works and what needs work. Defensively, they were able to hold St. Cloud to only 1 goal in the second half by modifying the defense. Carly Walters had a great night in goal with 11 saves on the night. Leading scorers for the Knights were Rachel Bourget and Halie Gudmonson each with 3 goals, and Karissa Pazen and Anna Churchill with 2 goals each. The ladies will travel to Delano on Monday, with JV playing at 5:00 and Varsity to follow at 6:30.
