Vendor Spotlight - McNamara Alumni Center

University of Minnesota has many wonderful event spaces. The McNamara Alumni Center is one of its' finest!

Today, I have to blog about one of my favorite Minnesota event spaces! I'm sure that many of you are familiar with the U of M campus. However, did you know that it not only is a college but has a number of premier event spaces available for your wedding ceremony and reception? How about the fact that they have award winning D'Amico as an exclusive caterer and ample parking space?

The McNamara Alumni Center is a cutting edge event space that can accomodate intimate or grand scale weddings and receptions. This is a wonderful venue if you want to have the simplicity of your wedding ceremony and reception at the same space.

The architecture is simply stunning from the inside out! Memorial Hall is the "great room" of the space. It boasts warm wood and copper walls, a plethora of windows and an unusual room shape. This large space can seat up to 400 people!

With the high ceilings and unique architecture, Memorial Hall looks fabulous with lighted draping! Your guests will be enthralled by the height of ceilings and the ample space for dinner and dancing. However, this isn't the only wonderful room at this venue.

If you are looking to have a more intimate gathering, McNamara Alumni Center has several options available. The first is University Hall. It has sleek floor to ceiling walls on one side and contemporary wooden walls on the other. This room can host 120 people for a plated meal and you can have a dance following your dinner in the Maroon & Gold Room!

Another fantastic option is to have your ceremony in the Maroon & Gold Room, host the cocktail hour in The Commons (150 max), then have the reception dinner in the Johnson Great Room. The room capacity for the Johnson Great Room is 160 for a seated dinner. Afterward, dancing can ensue in the "flipped" Commons room.

If you really want a unique space, The Heritage Gallery is definitely on the list. This room has an airplane suspended from the ceiling, unusual room shape and gallery displays. This space is limited to 100 people, so it would be perfect for an intimate wedding reception!

Right now, the McNamara Alumni Center is offering a short-term booking promotion for weddings held between March 1, 2012 and Labor Day! For more information, contact them at macevents@umn.edu or by phone (612) 624-9831.
