Why Percy Harvin & Harrison Smith's "Tussle" is a Good Thing for the Vikes

Percy Harvin and first round draft pick Harrison Smith lock horns in practice. Does this show that players are getting restless to get back to playing games?

Percy Harvin catches a pass on a short route from Christian Ponder on the second play of a third-down drill and turned upfield, where he collides with Harrison Smith, the Vikings first-round draft pick in the 2012 draft. Harvin continues trying to run down field, but Smith doesn't give up on him. Harvin recoils and appeares to consider throwing the ball at Smith, but instead the two players start pushing and shoving according to 1500 ESPN.

Players then start to break it up. Jerome Simpson shoves Smith, Jared Allen and Phil Loadholt are trying to separate them, while Jamarca Sanford yells, "Calm down, 1-2," from the sideline.

“It’s the game of football,” Smith said afterward. “It’s not a passive sport. It’s an aggressive sport played by aggressive people, so that stuff happens.”

So the first reason why this is good for the Vikings is that we can establish that Smith's extremely aggressive on the field in training camp against his own teammates. Can we all agree that he'll probably be ten time more aggressive when playing against an opposing team. Isn't that what we look for and want out of a player?

We'll have to wait to confirm if he ten times more aggressive, but this incident also shows his competitiveness. The number one thing I look for in a player, and something the Vikings really need.

We've seen the same competitiveness in Jerome Simpson. He's been shining all camp long, and will be a huge asset to the Vikings this season. I think we can expect the same from Harrison Smith.

The second reason why this is good for the Vikings; we now know that the players are anxious to get back on the field.

"After a while, you kind of get sick of competing against each other," Smith said. "You're supposed to be teammates, so you want to hit somebody, but you don't really have a choice."

Percy Harvin getting angry at one of his own players? Sounds like he's itching to get back in a game.

That's great news to me, because why would the players be excited to get back on the field if they didn't think they were going to have an awesome season?

This is me just thinking out loud. Nothing for fact, nothing for fiction. We just have to wait until the preseason to see how much we've improved. Thoughts?
