It's like death and taxes...reading glasses, cheaters, readers, bifocals, and no-line multifocals happen to everyone...there are few exceptions to this rule.
Some of my favorite patients are those who just hit 45 and are desperate for an eye correction that doesn't involve something sitting across the bridge of their nose. The look of awe and hope when we start discussing bifocal contact lenses is sometimes priceless. Bifocal contact lenses really ARE a good option for patients over the age of 40 who have "short-arm" syndrome.
Although they are a little more complex to fit and can often take several visits to find the right fit, it's worth it!

So if you've been told that you can't wear contact lenses because you need bifocals...ask about bifocal contact lenses, and if they tell you they aren't available, find a new doctor...we can even get them for patients with the "stigma."
