Legislation extended the expiration date for a driver’s license, instruction permit, provisional license, state-issued ID card and disability parking certificate. Any license/ID/permit that is set to expire between March 13 and Aug. 31 now has until Sept. 30 for renewals under this extension.

If your license/ID/permit expired before March 13, you can still get a renewal, but it may affect your ability to use that expired credential to apply for REAL ID or an enhanced driver’s license. However, there are other address-related proof documents needed to obtain both REAL ID and enhanced credentials that can be used to satisfy the requirements other than a driver’s license or ID card.
