It was a successful cap to the week for the St. Michael-Albertville athletic squads as the Knights soccer and volleyball squads won big in Mississippi 8 Conference play on Thursday.
Boys Soccer
The STMA boys soccer teams blew out Becker, 7-1, on Thursday to improve to 7-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference.

Justin McClain logged three goals and two assists, with Ben Bridell tallying two goals and an assist as the Knights held onto a slim lead in the Mississippi 8.
That was on the heels of a 3-3 tie in the wind on Tuesday vs. Buffalo at home.

The Knights trailed, 2-1, but rallied to force overtime in that one. St. Michael-Albertville scored first, taking a 3-2 lead, but Buffalo scored in the second overtime frame to tie the game, giving both teams top billing in the conference ... until they meet again next month.
Girls Soccer
A 6-0 defeat of Becker on Thursday improved the STMA girls soccer team to 7-1-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
MiCale Jensen and Paige Voigt scored twice apiece, while Becky Panuska made two saves for the shutout victory as the Knights remained tied with Rogers atop the Mississippi 8 standings.
Tuesday, the Knights picked up a huge win at Buffalo. The two teams played to a 0-0 tie in regulation, then the Knights scored in overtime to pick up the win.
Volleyball
A three-game sweep of Big Lake (25-23, 25-14, 25-21) on Thursday brought an end to a two-match losing streak for the STMA volleyball team as the Knights improved to 7-3 this year. Individual statistics were not made available.
