Game of the Week: St. Michael-Albertville Ready for 21-School Cross Country Meet

Milaca Early Bird moving to Mora due to wet conditions at Stones Throw Golf Club.

St. Michael-Albertville is one of 21 schools whose cross country teams will compete in the Milaca Early Bird Cross Country Meet on Monday. Only they won't be running in Milaca.

The annual meet has been moved to Mora due to heavy rains that have left Stones Throw Golf Club susceptible to damage from the cleats of the hundreds of runners set to compete.

The 21-team field also includes host Milaca, Albany, Becker, Big Lake, Braham, Cambridge-Isanti, Chisago Lakes, Foley, Hinckley-Finlayson, Monticello, Mora, Mound Westonka, North St. Paul, North Branch, Mille Lacs Area, Pierz, Pine City, Princeton, Rocori and Rush City.

The St. Michael-Albertville boys ran third in the race last year, behind North St. Paul and Mound Westonka, finishing four points ahead of fourth-place Cambridge-Isanti. Brendan Sage, then a sophomore, was the team's top individual finisher, taking ninth.

The Knights girls were also third a year ago, behind Monticello and Little Falls, edging Albany by five points for third.
