How to Register to Vote in St. Michael

In honor of National Voter Registration Day, we're giving you all the information you need on how and where to register to vote.

This year's election is exactly six weeks away. If you haven’t yet registered to vote, get it off your to-do list now.

Today is National Voter Registration Day, and thousands of local, state and national organizations have mobilized to make sure millions of people don’t miss the chance to cast their vote in this year’s elections.

Six million people didn’t vote in the 2008 elections because they either did not know how to register or because they missed the voter registration deadline.

The voter pre-registration deadline for Minnesota is Oct. 16.Β 

Here’s information on how you can register in time for the Nov. 6 elections:

Voter Registration

If you have recently moved, changed your name, or have not voted in the last four years, you may want to pre-register to save yourself timeΒ on Election Day.Β  Pre-registration forms are available at City Hall and can be picked up during normal office hours. Forms must be received by October 16thΒ in order for theΒ pre-registration to be effective for the November election.

Absentee Voting

Absentee ballots are available at St. Michael City Hall for anyone who cannot make it to the polls on Election Day, but still wants to vote.Β  Ballots can be picked up anytime during normal office hours until Monday, Nov. 5. St. Michael City HallΒ will also be open for extended hours on Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. for absentee voting.Β  The absentee ballot application form is available at the Secretary of State's websiteΒ and can be mailed (11800 Town Center Drive NE, St. Michael, MNΒ  55376, faxed (763-497-5306) or emailed (dberning@ci.st-michael.mn.us) to have a ballot mailed to you.Β 

In Albertville, pre-registration can be done at Albertville City Hall during hours. Keep in mind Albertville City Hall is closed Fridays. Β
