Knights Baseball Moves Into First-Place Conference Tie
St. Michael-Albertville win, Buffalo loss on Friday creates gridlock atop Mississippi 8 standings.

On a week that saw much of the St. Michael-Albertville sports schedule washed out, the Knights baseball team claimed a shining highlight on Friday by moving into a first-place tie in the Mississippi 8 Conference standings.
Baseball: Knights 10, Cambridge-Isanti 4
With a 10-4 defeat of Cambridge-Isanti on Friday, the St. Michael-Albertville baseball team not only held off the Bluejackets for the second-place slot in the Mississippi 8, but moved into a first-place tie with Buffalo after the Bison were stunned by Zimmerman in a 10-3, 10-inning defeat.

Christian Lemke and Andrew McCarthy both knocked in two runs apiece for the Knights in their home victory, with Ben Schmitz scoring twice; Lemke went 3-for-3 in the game, while Dain Krtuzig and Steven Kiesner each had two stolen bases apiece.
Starting pitcher Brian Lavallee earned the win for STMA after scattering two earned runs and seven hits over five innings, while striking out seven and walking two. Jacob Dzubay hurled the final two frames.

Friday's turn of events left both STMA and Buffalo with identical 9-6 overall records and 9-4 in the Mississippi 8. The Knights host Princeton (3-8 in the conference) on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Boys Golf: Knights Second, Third In Mid-Week Conference Meets
The St. Michael-Albertville boys golf team finished second and third, respectively, in Mississippi 8 meets on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Knights carded a 307 at Purple Hawk Country Club on Wednesday and 327 at Pebble Creek Golf Course on Thursday. Individual results were not available.
STMA is scheduled to compete at Princeton Golf Course at 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
Boys Tennis: Buffalo 4, Knights 3
A 4-3 loss to Buffalo on Thursday dropped the St. Michael-Albertville boys tennis team to 6-11 overall and 4-3 in the Mississippi 8.
The loss dropped the Knights one match behind the Bison in the circuit standings heading into Saturday's scheduled Mississippi 8 Conference Tournament at Monticello High School.
