Late Summer Fun with New Splash Pad in Otsego
Albertville's neighbor to the north has added a new, refreshing feature to its central park.
After just a few months of anticipation, the Otsego Splash Pad at Prairie Park is open. Wednesday evening kids of all ages, in swimsuits and others fully clothed, enjoying jumping and playing in the spraying water. With temperatures expected to hit the mid-90’s today, it’s not a bad day to check it out yourselves.
The splash pad, which unofficially opened Friday, Aug. 26 is located at Prairie Park which is behind Otsego City Hall.
In addition to the splash pad there are three separate playgrounds and several ball fields and trails.

“It’s a great location,” Lori Johnson, Otsego City Administrator said. “As soon as the water was turned on to test things out, the kids came. We hope to do more of a grand opening in the spring.”
St. Michael-Albertville families should be happy to have a closer location for water fun. The nearest splash pads prior to this one opening were in St. Cloud or St. Louis Park, depending on which direction families wanted to venture.

While the water features of the splash pad are completed there is still some improvements to come.
“I believe there will be benches and picnic tables added soon as well as some netting and protection near the porta potties.”
The splash pad will be open as long as weather permits this fall but the soonest the water will be turned off will be following the Otsego Fall Festival Saturday, Sept. 17.
