Despite the efforts of alerting motorists that children are entering or exiting a bus – flashing lights and an extended stop arm – some drivers attempt to speed around buses, with occasional tragic results and numerous near-misses.

DPS and the state patrol want drivers to be aware that buses are on the road and the precious cargo they carry with them. They have released a video reminding drivers of the dangers (and unlawfulness) of driving around a bus with its red lights on and stop arm extended and other safety precautions drivers should.
