Sports Roundup: Knights Boys Soccer Ties Burnsville

It was a busy weekend on the St. Michael-Albertville athletic calendar, however, the Knights biggest highlight might just have come on Monday evening.
Boys Soccer
The STMA boys soccer team continues to rack up impressive performances as the Knights bounced back from a 4-2 home loss to Elk River on Saturday to tie host Burnsville, 1-1, on Monday night.

Goalkeeper Cole Christian made 15 saves to thwart the Blaze offense, with Ben Bridwell heading home a direct kick from teammate Bryant Malley for the visitor's goal as STMA improved to 4-2-1 on the season.
Girls Soccer

Two consecutive ties to visiting Moorhead (3-3) and Elk River (2-2) on Friday and Saturday, respectively, gave the STMA girls soccer team a 3-1-2 record entering this week.
Jessica Johnson leads the Knights with four goals this year, with Maddie Barr and Andrea Boisner tied at two goals each thus far.
Girls Tennis
Going 2-1 on Saturday, the STMA girls tennis team finished second in an invitational meet it hosted, losing 5-2 to Duluth East before topping Mound-Westonka (5-2) and Rocori (7-0).
Singles players Cierra and Kiana Eystad went 3-0 on the day to claim championship medals, as did the doubles team of Erika Duley/Brittnet Grube.
Branna Hagert, Jessica Duda and the duos of Kylie Slavin/Halley Fritze and Kristina Budde/Michaela Haraldson finished in second place.
The 8-4 Knights are 1-1 in Mississippi 8 Conference play, topping Becker 4-3 and losing 6-1 to Rogers last week.
Volleyball
The STMA volleyball team finished 21st in the Southwest Minnesota Challenge, held on Friday and Saturday in Marshall, then topped host Anoka in five games (25-22, 25-23, 22-25, 17-25, 15-13) on Monday to improve to 6-4 this autumn.
The Knights defeated Bemidji and Northfield in preliminary play at the Challenge, before topping West Fargo (N. Dak.) in the 21st-place match. Individual statistics were not available.
Results from a scheduled meet involving the STMA girls swim/dive team on Saturday were not available.
