Sports Update: St. Michael Girls Soccer Makes it 10 Straight

The St. Michael-Albertville fotoball team came up on the short end of a Mississippi 8 Conference showdown last Friday, before the Knights cross-country squads competed at the Apple Valley Invitational on Saturday.

Football

Two rushing touchdowns from Ryan Lyzhoft was not enough to lift the STMA football team to a win at Big Lake as the Knights lost 21-14 at Big Lake on Friday.

The loss dropped STMA to 2-2 heading into a home game versus Buffalo this Friday at 7 p.m.

Cross-Country

The STMA boys and girls cross-country teams finished fifth and eighth, respectively, at the Eagles Invitational in Apple Valley on Saturday.

Brendan Sage led the Knights boys with an eighth-place individual finish in a time of 16 minutes, 51 seconds over the five-kilometer course, with Presley Norby's 10th-place 4K time of 15:24 leading the STMA girls.

Boys Soccer

After falling 4-0 at Edina on Monday, the STMA boys soccer team blanked Spectrum/Big Lake by an 11-0 score on Tuesday to improve to 8-3-2 overall.Β 

Justin McLain and Ben Bridell lead the Knights with 11 and 10 goals, respectively, with McLain, Bridell and Matt Silbernagel logging six assists each to top the squad.

Girls Soccer

The STMA girls soccer team blanked Big Lake, 5-0, on Tuesday for its third-straight shutout victory, increasing its unbeaten streak to 10 games.

Individual statistics were not available. The Knights carry a 7-1-3 record into a Thursday night home game against Minneapolis Henry.

Girls Tennis

A 7-0 defeat of Big Lake on Tuesday improved the STMA girls tennis team to 13-7 this fall.Β Individual statistics were not available.Β
