St. Michael-Albertville Prom Visits 'Moonlit Garden'

Friday was a day of preparation as the school's prom committee transformed the high school gym into a serene garden setting.

It's an annual event that draws hundreds to the St. Michael-Albertville High School gym - even though that's a site that's moved a few times over the last two decades.

Parents, friends and community onlookers (who just love a good gown or tux) will flock to the school today for grand march, as nearly 200 couples will walk in this year's event.

"It's a huge thing for the community," said junior Britta Ruberto. "We had about a thousand last year. So it's best to get here a little early."

The prom committee was busy putting up archways, laying down a "stone path" and creating "photo spots" complete with pillars and ivy.

"We want it to be a nice setting for the couples to walk through. It's kind of simple," but elegant, said junior Samantha Wortman.
