St. Michael Man Charged With Drug Possession after Stopped for Jaywalking
A 21-year-old St. Michael man was stopped in north Minneapolis for crossing against a light. In the end, he faced two drug-related counts.
Minneapolis Police stopped a St. Michael man Friday, April 8 when he crossed the interseection of Central Avenue and 20th Avenue Northeast in Minneapolis illegally.Â
Minutes later, Ryan D. Jacobson had been arrested on two drug-related charges after officers found .5 gram of cocaine in Jacobson's wallet.Â
According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County, two Minneapolis officers approached Jacobson Friday night after he was seen jaywalking. Asked to show identification, Jacobson produced a driver's license that was not his, but that of a "D.J.S."Â

Upon seeing this, Jacobson offered to get his actual license. He retreived his wallet and opened it, and one of the officers "observed suspected coacine in plain view of [Jacobson's] wallet."Â
The officers field-tested the small bag, and it did test positive for cocaine.Â

Jacobson made his first appearance in Hennepin County Court Tuesday, April 12 on two drug posession charges, both felonies.Â
He was released from Hennepin County Jail Tuesday.Â
Posession of cocaine carries a sentence of one to three years in prison and a minimum $3,000 fine.Â
