Strong Speech From St. Buffaville

The St. Buffaville Speech Team (STMA-Buffalo co-op) put in a strong performance in a rare midweek meet at Willmar High School on Tuesday, Feb. 2. 

According to Ron Miller, assistant speech team coach at St. Michael-Albertville High School, the team returned home with several champions and nearly two dozen placewinners and honorable mentions across 13 categories.

The full list of place-winners is as follows:

First place: Alex Joos, Great Speeches; Annie Moore, Creative Expression; Isaac Heieie, Prose, Bayden Mire, Novice Discussion , Amy Potter,  Novice Drama; Cody Goodchild, Extemp Speaking; Leah Odegard, Novice Prose

Second place: Leah Andrews, Creative; Jed Rothstein, Extemp Speaking; Gabrielle Thompson, Great Speeches

Third place: Sara Morgan, Informative; Alex Brown, Novice Drama; Conrad Weinzetl, Great Speeches

Fifth place: Caitlin Duley, Creative; Isaac Heieie and Mike Papas, Duo; Nicole Logeais, Humorous

Sixth place: Mike Papas, Storytelling

Seventh place: Rushini Tamaldeo, Humorous

Eighth palce: Sara Morgan, Extemp. Speaking; Alisha Cole, Humorous

Honorable Mention: Gabrielle Thompson, Poetry

Speech team members will next compete at Centennial High School on Saturday, Feb. 26 and then host a meet at Buffalo High School on Mar. 5.
