Crews on Albertville I-94 Interchange Making Progress
The westbound ramp on Interstate 94 is closed, for now, as crews make headway on the new County Road 37 interchange in Albertville.
According to Albertville City Engineer, Adam Nafstad, work is moving right along on the project that started the beginning of May but has been in the works for nearly 10 years.
"Despite the rain, work on the inside shoulder/bypass lane continues. The shouldering work will be performed during evening hours (generally 9 p.m. to 7 p.m. and freeway traffic will be reduced to one-lane in both directions. Once the shoulder is complete, the shoulder will utilized to maintain two-lanes of traffic during construction of the retaining walls and C-D [collector-distributor] road," Nafstad said.
The private utility relocations are well underway and were expected to be completed by May 26.

Excavations for the retaining wall have begun and piling operations started on Monday, May 21, Nafstad said. The crane will be a mainstay, as piling operations (lots of banging) and retaining wall construction along School Lake will continue through the summer months.
Westbound traffic has also been closed off at County Road 37. Now a detour goes into effect, and local destined for westbound I-94 will access the freeway at CSAH 19.

During construction of the C-D road, the posted speed for I-94 through Albertville will be reduced to 60 MPH.
