Bachmann Watches Romney Debate with Wright County Republicans

Rep. Michele Bachmann had the front row seat and let her thoughts be heard with loud applause throughout Mitt Romney's performance as the former Massachusetts governor took on President Barack Obama.

"He's doing great," she said.

Bachmann also had many comments about President Barack Obama's rhetoric during Obama's turn, hitting on her belief the president's policies will raise taxes on middle class families, especially in Minnesota. 

After, she met with local media, saying the Republican candidate "won" the first debate. 

Marion O'Neill, a candidate seeking her first election to state office, liked what she was seeing.

"Romney is making great points and using very specific facts. I expected him to do well and am happy to hear facts from him and mostly rhetoric from Obama," she said.

O'Neill is the GOP-endorse candidate for House District 30A, which includes the Monticello area. 

Former Secretary of State and current Minnesota Senate District 30 candidate Mary Kiffmeyer agreed.

When asked what she thought about naysayers saying Romney wasn't expected to do well she said, "the proof is that Romney is doing it right now. He's going a great job."

In straw polls, both O'Neill and Kiffmeyer are holding leads in their respective races. Wright County is a stronghold for Minnesota conservatives. 

In her race, Bachmann continues to hold a lead over challenger Jim Graves with five weeks unti the election.
