Trump, Biden Winners In Tuesday's Presidential Nomination Primary In Wright County

For the first time in 28 years, Minnesota conducted a Presidential Nomination Primary and President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden were decisive winners in Wright County.

President Trump ran unopposed on the ballot and received 3,298 votes. There were 41 write-in votes.

In the primary for Democrats, there were 8,741 ballots cast in Wright County, including several candidates who were running at the time the ballot was printed but have since dropped out of the race.

Biden received 4,294 votes (49.12 percent) to run away from the field. He was followed by Bernie Sanders (2,053 votes, 23.49 percent), Mike Bloomberg (933 votes, 10.67 percent), Elizabeth Warren (880 votes, 10.07 percent), Amy Klobuchar (395 votes, 4.52 percent), Pete Buttigieg (77 votes, 0.88 percent), Tulsi Gabbard (36 votes, 0.41 percent), “uncommitted” ballots (33 votes, 0.38 percent), Andrew Yang (22 votes, 0.25 percent), Tom Steyer (7 votes, 0.08 percent), Michael Bennet (5 votes, 0.06 percent), Marianne Williamson (2 votes, 0.02 percent), John K. Delaney (2 votes, 0.02 percent), Cory Booker (1 vote, 0.01 percent) and Julian Castro (1 vote, 0.01 percent). The only candidate of the 15 names that were on the ballot who didn’t receive a vote was Deval Patrick.

While primary turnout is typically much lower than the general election in November, a total of 12,080 votes were cast in Wright County. That represents 14.8 percent of the county’s 81,394 registered voters as of 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 3.
