UPDATE: Name Released of Man Killed in Fire Near St. Michael

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has released the name of the 19-year-old man killed in a May 21 fire in Hassan Township.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the 19-year-old man killed in a Hassan Township fire as Kyle Jon Adams.Β 

The examination shows Kyle Adams died of thermal injuries and smoke inhalation in the fire that gutted his family's home in the 24000 block of 141st Avenue around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, May 21.Β 

Adams' mother escaped the fire with injuries.Β Pamela Ann Adams, 46, suffered third-degree burns and lacerations, but has been moved to satisfactory condition and is recovering at Hennepin County Medical Center.Β

Kyle was the only other resident of the house that was home at the time of the fire at 24355 141st Avenue Northeast.

Rogers Fire Chief Brad Feist to theΒ Elk River Star NewsΒ the house was fully engulfed when fire crews responded to the 911 call. The emergency call was placed by a neighbor.Β

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the initial emergency call, which came in the middle of a severe thunderstorm Saturday night, the same system that dropped a tornado onΒ Medina, about 15 miles south of Hassan Township.

Rogers FireΒ called in for mutual aid from Dayton Fire and Rescue and St. Michael Fire Department immediately. Albertville Fire was called in around 8 p.m., about an hour later.

The home is a total loss.Β 

Feist said the State Fire Marshal is leading the investigation of the blaze. No cause has been determined. It is still not known if the severe weather at the time of the fire might have played a factor.
