Are you looking for a guitar to begin lessons? First of all, you need to make sure it is in good working condition! The strings should be easy for the student to press down.
Acoustic or Electric?
It really is up to YOU. Beginners can start with either one, but many teachers will tell you that acoustic is preferred for proper technique.
It is easy to transition to an electric guitar, but harder to go from electric to acoustic. Also, the acoustic is a joy to bring wherever you go (like around the campfire), without worrying about having to "plug in!"
We sell guitars
We sell a Lucida guitar which is only $85 (cheaper than at Target or Best Buy). This guitar has nylon strings, which are very gentle on fingers and ideal for beginners. We can order you a guitar and have it within a week! You can try out the sample instrument in our studio.
Basic guitar set-up and maintenance is available through one of our instructors here at the Studio!
What Size do I need?
Guitars do actually come in different sizes! For very young children and people with smaller hands, a 3/4 size guitar is your best bet for a comfortable instrument to start on. Outside of the scale of the neck, there are different body sizes on acoustic guitars that can affect how you play as well.
What else do I need?
We sell replacement strings, tuners, and metronomes! Just ask your teacher for details on what you will need.
Still Not Sure?
Just come on in to the Studio and our guitar teachers can help you know exactly which guitar to purchase.
Getting started with guitar lessons doesn't need to be complicated!
