The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, the 9/11 Global War on Terrorism Task Force and the Minnesota Military Museum will conduct a “9/11 Day of Remembrance” Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Minnesota State Capitol grounds in St. Paul. The pre-ceremony will begin at 7:30 a.m. will begin with a tolling of bells and ready of names of Minnesotans lost on 9/11 with moments of silence corresponding with the times of the airplane attacks. Events will begin at 9 a.m. and run throughout the morning and afternoon.

The event is focused on bringing the community together through a message of hope, unity and resilience. The event will feature flyovers, guest speakers, musical performances, a 9/11 documentary screening, museum exhibits, food vendors, children’s activities and more.
Scheduled speakers include retired Army General Joseph Votel, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Tina Smith, Representative Betty McCollum, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Larry Herke, Gold Star Mother Jill Stephenson and Mariah Jacobsen, daughter of Flight 93 hero Tom Burnett.

The event is free, open to the public and family-friendly. Free parking will be available in many of the lots and ramps near the Capitol grounds.
