Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. WOODBURY, MN — A 21-year-old woman has died after she was pulled from a community pool in Woodbury Saturday. Police told Patch in an email that the initial call on June 8 was made at 10:16 p.m. for a report of a person pulled from a pool at the 6200 block of Tahoe Road. Officers found the woman at the scene, who was breathing and didn't have a pulse. Police began CPR before Woodbury EMS took over care. The woman was then transported to Regions Hospital once EMS providers were able to regain her pulse. Police learned Monday that the victim has died. Authorities are awaiting information from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner. Because water-related incidents must be investigated by sheriff's departments, Woodbury detectives are now working on this case with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
