3 East Ridge High School Seniors Named U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidates
The East Ridge High School seniors are three of approximately 4,000 students nationwide to receive this honor.
South Washington County Schools is recognizing three East Ridge High School seniors on being named U.S. Presidential Scholar candidates, an honor which recognizes some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors.
Kevin Bi, Lauren Go and Shreya Narayan are three of approximately 4,000 students nationwide to receive this honor, according to a news release from the school district.
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 by executive order of the president and was extended in 1979 to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional talent in visual, creative and performing arts.

In 2015, the program was again extended to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields.
Each year, up to 161 students are named Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.
