They hail from Seattle, Nebraska and Taiwan.

Now they’re in Woodbury and hoping to make their mark in the music world.

ViewPoint is a punk rock band of comprised of three Woodbury teenagers, Kyle Christianson, Trevor Wolfe and Jonathan Veracka. (They're still looking for a bassist.)

All three said they see music as their future career.

It began when Kyle and Trevor met at Woodbury’s —they were both taking lessons there at the same time.

Kyle, 17, a student, plays the drums, and Trevor, a 15-year-old student at the , is a guitarist. They later added Jonathan, 16, ViewPoint’s lead vocalist, who also plays guitar and attends MSA.

“Once we all joined, it all came together and sounded good, so then we stated making songs,” Jonathan said.

The trio agreed that music allows them to express their perspective on things, hence the name ViewPoint. But exactly what that view is depends on the song.

For Drag Along, Jonathan said it’s a “teenage love thing” that highlights how one person in a relationship can be marginalized.

They rehearse every Saturday for about four hours, more during the summer, and don’t have any particular musical influences. Their styles come together in a “melting pot,” Jonathan said.

“We each bring something different to the music,” Trevor said.

Added Jonathan: “It’s almost like we don’t even have a style.”

Their plan now is to create enough material for an album. ViewPoint has about five songs in its repertoire and “we’re working on seven ideas right now,” Jonathan said.

One thing that makes ViewPoint unique is that they can call play each other’s instruments, and their crowds respond when they take a quick break to swap.

While they haven’t yet completed high school, they’ve all envisioned playing music professionally since they started rocking on Guitar Hero or, as Jonathan put it, playing music “for the geese outside.”

But in talking to the band, their love of music is clear.

“It can really get a party started,” Kyle said.
