Rising Stars Gymnasts Medal at State Meet

The Rising Stars Gymnastics Academy Level 5-6 gymnasts finished their competition season by braving blizzard conditions and traveling to St. Cloud to compete in the Minnesota State Meet Dec. 11-12.

Each of the 15 Rising Stars Gymnasts had earned the right to compete at the State Meet having scored a minimum of 32.0 All-Around at one of the three Qualifier Meets earlier in the season.

The Level 5 gymnasts placed ninth out of 32 teams with this season's best team score of 108.9. In a field of 89 gymnasts, Erika Broten placed third All-Around (36.40). Erika placed second on Bars (9.15) and fourth on both Vault (9.30) and Floor (9.15). Caitlin Gardiner placed fifth All-Around (36.175). Caitlin won third on Beam (9.30) and had high 9.0 marks for her Vault and Bars routines.

Lindsey Malicki's Vault landed her in eighth place (9.10). Lindsey also scored a solid 9.0 on Beam. Isabella Frattalone's tumbling earned her a sixth place on Floor (9.125). Kiley Cannata hit the vault hard and placed 10th (9.075). Erin Rogers medaled on Floor with a score of 8.875. Joslyn Davison and Kaela Offstein showed off their balance and competitive calm by scoring high on the Beam.

The entire Rising Stars Gymnastics Level 6 Team competed at this year's State Meet. The Rising Stars Level 6 gymnasts placed ninth in a field of 23 with a team score of 106.3. Each gymnast won an individual medal. In the Level 6 team 7-9 year old group, Samantha Chang won second on Vault (9.375) and third on Floor (9.175). Lucy Gibbs hit her Bars routine and won fourth (8.125). In the Level 6 10-year old group, Emma Golden vaulted to eighth place for Vault (9.30). Emma also medaled for Beam and All-Around. Danielle Keran took home eighth place for Floor and earned high marks on her Vault (9.175). Victoria Gardner earned high marks and fourth place on Beam and also medaled on Floor. Maria Landherr medaled on Beam. In the Level 6 11-year old group, Margaret Germundson medaled on Beam.

As the Rising Stars Level 5-6 gymnasts celebrate the end of their competition season, the Optionals Level 7-10 gymnasts focus ahead on their season which starts mid-January. Team gymnasts represent the communities of Lake Elmo, Mahtomedi, Maplewood, Oakdale, Stillwater, and Woodbury.
