Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. The <a href="http://wcsheriff.info/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Washington County Sheriff's Office</a> is investigating a possible arson incident at a Lake Elmo home early Wednesday morning. At about 4:15 a.m. authorities received a 911 call about a fire at the 5300 block of Lake Elmo Avenue, according to a release from the sheriff's office. The homeowner told police he heard several loud crashes and a vehicle sped away from the home as he was calling 911. He was able to put the fire out himself, and there was minor damage to the home, the release says. The incident is under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the <a href="https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/sfm/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">State Fire Marshal's Office</a>.
