Boy, 5, Dies After Being Found Unresponsive In Woodbury Lake

A 5-year-old boy died this weekend after he was found unresponsive at Carver Lake Beach in Woodbury.

WOODBURY, MN — A 5-year-old boy died this weekend after an incident at Carver Lake Beach. Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Woodbury Public Safety responded to a 911 call of a child missing at Carver Lake Park. It was determined that the boy, 5, was last seen in the water, so search efforts were focused in that area of the park.

The first officer on scene coordinated the bystanders to form a human chain to search for the boy. Within minutes the child was located underwater, about 25-30 feet from the shore, according to authorities.

It is unclear exactly how long the child was missing or under water. The child was unresponsive as he was brought out of the water, according to a news release.
