Inspiration from 'Junk Bonanza' Show at Canterbury
What I did with the "junk" I brought home from the Junk Bonanza.
Earlier this September, I attended the Junk Bonanza at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. If you are into shabby chic, repurposing junky stuff, antiques or just seeing how something so "common" can become suddenly beautiful and unique, then this is the fair for you!
Don't worry that you missed this one, because they added another date in the Spring. Check out their site here: http://junkbonanza.com
I brought $140 with me and I wasn't going to use the ol' credit card unless absolutely necessary. (I was almost swayed...but I kept to my budget!)

My goal: find cool things to decorate our mantel and on top of "landings" I have in our rambler. (There are two landings, and I was only able to fill up one - so now I have a goal for the spring bonanza!)
And here's what I did with my "junky" stuff (and my hubby thinks I'm crazy):

First landing
German wire basket: $32
Old spool: $5
Sap bucket with words "No. 1" stenciled on side: $15
Hydrangeas from garden: Free
Sawed off ladder: $16
Grain bag: $10
Total spent: $78
Mantel
Burlap Dairy Bag: $10
Autumn Garland: on hand
Lantern: on hand
Wood tealight holder: $4 at Goodwill
Shabby Chic "S": $40 (most expensive thing I bought that day)
Sign: on hand
Orange candle holder: on hand
Total spent: $54
Grand total for both: $132
What I learned at the Junk Bonaza is that burlap is "in." And corbels. I wanted a pair of corbels, but couldn't justify spending $70 just for one! (and you need two, they have to be in pairs)
Hope this inspires you for your fall decorating!
