Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. Thieves made off with a safe from the Woodbury Champs Sports during the early morning hours of June 24. The unknown suspects drilled the rear emergency exit door to gain entry, took the safe from an office and dragged it outside to the curb, according to a report. The lock contained a broken drill bit; officers dusted for fingerprints but did not find any. Video surveillance equipment from the office was thrown to the ground but appeared to be working, and employees at the restaurant were trying to recover the footage, the report says. Nothing else was taken in the burglary.
