Cabela’s Incorporated, the World’s Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, will celebrate the grand opening of its Woodbury, Minn., store – the company’s fourth Minnesota location – with a weekend-long celebration featuring special guests, giveaways, family events and more.
Grand opening weekend will get underway at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 15 with a unique ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Cabela’s officials, including Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer Tommy Millner. The ribbon will then be cut by an arrow shot from a bow – marking the official opening of Cabela’s 55th store across North America.
And that’s just the beginning of the celebration.

Cabela’s also will offer giveaways throughout the weekend. The first 50 customers through the door Friday will receive a Cabela’s utility bag valued at $24.99. The first 50 Saturday will receive a Cabela’s cap valued at $14.99. And Sunday, the first 50 will receive a Cabela’s gift card valued between $5 and $100. Additionally, customers 18 years and older will have a chance to enter to win a $1,000 Cabela’s shopping spree throughout the weekend.
A variety of activities for the entire family will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. weather permitting Saturday and Sunday, including a youth fishing clinic and trout pond and Cabela’s BB gun range. Also in attendance will be the Beretta show truck and Parker Bows mobile archery range, plus more.
The 85,000-square-foot store is located at 8400 Hudson Road in the Tamarack Village Shopping Center. It is Cabela’s fourth Minnesota location – joining Rogers, East Grand Forks and Owatonna – and will employ approximately 185 full-time and part-time employees.
The building’s exterior will reflect Cabela’s popular store model with log construction, stonework, wood siding and metal roofing. A large glass storefront will allow customers to view much of the store’s interior as they approach the building. In addition to thousands of quality outdoor products, the interior will be designed to surround customers in an outdoor experience, featuring a mountain replica with built-in aquarium, wildlife displays, a Boat Shop, Gun Library, Bargain Cave and Fudge Shop.
Currently, Cabela’s operates 54 stores across North America and has announced plans to open 20 more over the next two years.
