Cottage Grove Church To Older Members: Take A Hike
The invitation to leave is a part of an effort to attract more young people.

COTTAGE GROVE, MN — An east metro church is telling its older members to stay away in an effort to make it more appealing to young people. Grove United Methodist Church, which is struggling with money and getting new members, will close in June, with plans to relaunch sometime around November.
When the church reopens, the current members — most over the age of 60 — are asked to stay away, according to the Pioneer Press. They're invited to worship at the church's Woodbury campus during that time.
"We are asking them to let this happen," Rev. Dan Wetterstrom told the newspaper. "For this to be truly new, we can’t have the core group of 30 people."
