East Ridge Athletes Compete in Hamline Elite Meet

East Ridge sends their top track and field athletes to compete in prestigious meet on Friday

The boys and girls track and field teams were represented at Friday’s Hamline Elite meet held at Hamline University in St. Paul.

The boys 4x200 meter relay finished first overall in the meet with a 1:30.43 time, beating out Brainerd’s relay team by 0.25 seconds.

The boys 4x100 meter team took second place overall with a 43.36 time, trailing only Edina’s relay team that finished in 43.26. Two of Edina’s current relay members were on last year’s Hornets’ 4x100 relay team that won the Class AA state meet.

On the girls side, East Ridge’s 4x200 meter relay team comprised of Megan Amend, Alicia Ickstadt, Nicole Ethier and Hannah Pignato finished eighth with a time of 1:48.52. Roseville’s team won the race with a 1:44.71 time.

The Hamline Elite meet is a statewide qualify-only event based on the athletes’ previous results during the 2011 season.
