The Woodbury-Cottage Grove League of Women Voters is hosting Professor David Schultz to talk about privatization of government services. While government at all levels provides many services and is a major employer, privatization (outsourcing) has occurred for decades. Results can include enhancing, reducing, or altering functions. How does this affect the service or function, the “common good,” or the public well-being? If privatizing, what parameters and polices need to be considered?
Privatization is a complex issue. David Schultz, a Hamline university professor in the School of Business, will talk about the public policy issues, benefits and limitations of transferring federal, state, and local government services, assets, and/or functions to the private sector, The event is free and open to the public.
