Football Friday: Woodbury Looks to Build on Big Win

The Woodbury football team would probably be happy with an easy win after last week's , but they'll face a strong opponent tonight in White Bear Lake.

(3-1, 3-1 Suburban East Conference) edged East Ridge 35-34 in double OT; White Bear Lake (3-1, 3-1) crushed Park 48-7.

Junius Wilson (Woodbury, running back)

Wilson missed last week's game after getting injured early the previous Friday. But he's still got 329 yards and four scores on the season. He's expected back this week, which is good news for the Royals.

Joe Wood (Woodbury, running back)

Wood picked up the slack in Wilson's absence last week, running for 94 yards and a score. He too has four touchdowns—and 269 yards—on the season.

Sawyer Moon (Woodbury, quarterback)

Moon was an efficient 13-for-18 for 270 yards and three scores last Friday night, and has completed two-thirds of his pass attempts on the season (36 for 54).

Bears offensive line

Six different players scored touchdowns for the Bears last week, and spreading the wealth like that is only possible when the line is winning in the trenches.

Wilson is 100 percent in his return. With him, Woodbury has a strong 1-2 punch in its running game, which makes quarterback Sawyer Moon (six touchdowns, zero interceptions) that much more effective.

They can get off to another fast start. The Bears exploded for 28 points in the first quarter against Park, and are averaging more than 31 points per game so far, but putting up those kinds of numbers is going to be a little more difficult against a stingier Royals defense this week.
