Former KFAN, ESPN Co-Host Charged With Assault In Washington County

Jeff Dubay, who was fired from his job at KFAN 1130 in 2008, is accused of beating a woman with closed fists in Cottage Grove.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Jeff Dubay, who was fired from his job co-hosting the PA and Dubay show on KFAN 1130 in 2008, is being accused of beating a woman with closed fists and knocking her tooth out in Cottage Grove earlier this month. Dubay said publicly he is not guilty.

On Aug. 2, officers were dispatched to the 8000 block of Jensen Avenue South in Cottage Grove on the report of a physical domestic assault. As officers approached the area, a woman flagged them down and reported that another female needed help as she was being assaulted in the basement of a house on the block, according to the criminal complaint.

At that point, a woman came walking out of the house visibly injured, with blood dripping out of her mouth and a large bump around her eye, police said. She had a tooth missing that was later found, according to authorities.

The woman told police that Dubay lived in the basement of her house. She said he and Dubay have had sexual relations in the past and it made her upset when he brought different women to the house, according the criminal complaint.

In this instance, Dubay allegedly had another woman in his bedroom, and she wanted Dubay to ask her to leave. Dubay then "became angry" and shoved her to the floor, according to the complaint.

Police noted she has bilateral prosthetic legs and had a difficult time getting her balance.

While lying on the floor, police claim Dubay reached over and punched her several times in the face with closed fists. Several punches landed above her left eye causing the bump, and one punch knocked out her front tooth, according to authorities.

The woman told police that this was not the first time the defendant has assaulted her, in fact, he had threatened to kill her several times and choked her in the past, the criminal complaint states.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, Dubay said he was "recently wrongfully accused of assault in Washington County."

"You are likely to hear details that are not true and will be refuted by the only eyewitness," Dubay added. "Be assured I will appear in court and defend vigorously, as I am absolutely not guilty of the charges. Thank you for your support."

Dubay was fired from his job co-hosting the PA and Dubay Show with Paul Allen on KFAN after he was arrested in 2008 for crack cocaine possession. After a short stint co-hosting a sports show with Judd Zulgad, Dubay was let go from ESPN 1500 in 2014, the Star Tribune reported.
